Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before having your tests performed at GastroLab.

Preparation and Fasting

How many hours of fasting are required?

For most blood tests (such as glucose or a lipid profile), 8 to 12 hours of fasting are required. Avoid fasting for more than 14 hours. During this time, you may drink plain water in moderate amounts.

Can I take my medications before testing?

It depends on the test. If you are monitoring medication levels or having hormone tests, consult your physician. In general, do not stop your usual medication unless instructed to do so, but please tell us about it when your sample is collected.

Result Delivery

How long does it take to receive results?

Most routine tests are ready the same day (in the afternoon). Bacteriology cultures and special tests may take 3 to 5 business days because of the required incubation times.

How can I view my results online?

It’s easy. Click “My Results” in the top menu. You can enter the unique code for your test, scan the QR code on your receipt, or—if you are an existing patient—sign in with your username and password to view your history.
